Pointless
by Salvatore Cocco
I get up, out of bed
Take a leak, brush my breath
Shower hot, mirror cold
Who’s that man, looking old
Down the stairs, silent tea
Read the news, watch T.V.
Hunger, pain, death, despair
What I see, I don’t care
I really see no reason to get out today
And by fits and starts no reason to live
The craving for your presence just won’t fade away
The harder I try
The more that I die
A memory is all you can give
Quiet room, all is wrong
Music chokes, since you’re gone
There’s no milk, there’s no pie
I need bread, no goodbye
Broken vows, broken heart
Shattered dreams, torn apart
Curtains closed, sun outside
Burned my skin, hurt my pride
I really see no reason to get out today
And by fits and starts no reason to live
The craving for your presence just won’t fade away
The harder I try
The more that I die
A memory is all you can give
Even blame, can’t take away
the pain. The scars wil stay
the same, like every other day.
How insane, this act I play
again. The sky is grey
in vain. I just can’t walk away.
‘Cause I really see no reason to get out today
And by fits and starts no reason to live
The craving for your presence just won’t fade away
And the harder I try
The more that I die
A memory is all you can give
